Club Trip / Fish Of The Month / April 2019

Judging by the pics and reports that I received, it looks like the April 23rd club trip to Haines Creek – Lake Eustis was a great time. All four boats reported catches that included Bass, Bowfin, Gar, and whatever that little thing was that Steve Felix caught. Next months trip will be on May 23rd at Lake Panasoffkee. For more information just click on the Meetings/Events tab at the top of this page.

Fish Of The Month
Fishing the local ponds can sometimes be a challenge but those who put in the time are often rewarded for their efforts and that was certainly the case for FFC members Frank Martines and Jim Geiger. On April 5th, Frank took a nice 8.1 lb Bass at Briar Meadow pond using a Ned Rig. On April 11th, Jim took his first selfie holding a nice 6lb. 15oz. Miona Rec Center pond Bass. This one taken with a black trick worm.

Now here’s something that we don’t have in the local ponds (a good thing) but a blast to catch. Check out this 48″ Longnose Gar that FFC member Phil Beitel caught during the April club trip. This toothy critter weighed approx. 15 lbs. and was the big fish of the day.

Thanks to all who have reported and sent in pics. Keep them coming
