2018 Villages Bass Fishing Tournament

In picture perfect weather, 49 local anglers took part in the 9th annual “Villages Bass Fishing Tournament” held Tuesday, March 27th.
The three ponds fished in this years event were Bonita, Poinciana, and Ashland and despite the fact that fish were a little reluctant to bite, fish were caught in all three locations.
Soft plastics seemed to be the bait of choice although I did witness two nice fish taken with a lipless crankbait.
Several non qualifying species were also caught during the event including Catfish, Crappie, and a foul hooked Tilapia.
The awards banquet was held Thursday March 29th at La Hacienda Rec Center. As in the past, The Oakwood Grill provided some great food before the winners were announced.
First place went to Bob Knorr with 2 fish, totaling 5lbs-3oz. (Ashland)
Second place and “Big Fish” went to Gord McGarry with 1 fish, 2lbs.-13oz. (Bonita)
Third place went to Jack “Topwater” Hoban with 1 fish, 2lbs.-7oz. (Bonita)

Honorable mention went to Dave Makarewicz, 1 fish, 2lbs.-4oz. (Poinciana)
A special thanks to all who volunteered to make this years event another success.
