No this isn’t about Jack, Janet, & Chrissy….And if you’re thinking WTH is he talking about….That’s when tv was entertainment and some kids even rode bikes & skateboards….some.
This is about making as many as 3 casts a minute to making 1 cast in 3 minutes….yawn….fishing in 3 feet of water or cavernous depths of 13 feet. Well maybe 8 feet seeing as how we’re in FL. Anglers from all walks of life – nowadays many of us are all the same….retired…. Just another angler. The fish don’t know.
Here’s February’s F.O.T.M. recipient Wayne Barksdale with another nice un. Barksdale said he caught 15 but this was the largest. He was using lipless crankbaits & ultra vibe speed worms.
FFC member Ken Fox landed a tournament quality bass at Lake Toho while fishing with fellow FFC member Stan Lippian. Fox used worms in watermelon red & junebug with pearl tail. This fish weighed 6 lbs 6 ozs. OH YEAH! Hope it’s there tournament day.
Yours truly listened, for a change, and yo yo’d a gold lipless crankbait in “deeper” water. Unless you find a sinkhole, there aint no freshwater in Florida I classify as deep….unless you ask fellow web master when he lost 3 rods over board….right Jerry Lester? BTW the water was 6 ft. And for those that have chastised me for tossing a fish over board, unlike MLF rules that say release below the gunnel, take heed….it never saw a filet knife or a hot skillet.
New culling system is out that “some” may be interested in called Accu Cull. Nothing penetrates the fishes mouth. The snaps loosely attach in the fishes mouth. The colored lines float making them EZ to grab. Weigh a fish, find a color & rotate your recording mechanism to the weight. Available at your tackle shops. I ordered mine thru Brooker Bait & tackle.
Lots of things occurred lately with FLW having their Pro Tour at Venetian Gardens on the Harris Chain. Unfortunately local Pro Tim Frederick finished below the $$$ cut line. After leading Angler Of The Year points he’s now dropped to 70th place. In 2017 53 anglers qualified for the Forrest Wood cup. There’s no entry fee & first place in 2017 paid $300,200….53rd place paid $10,000. Go get em Tim for 2018.
Here’s Terry Scroggins & Shaw Grigsby at Millers Boating Center annual boat show. Fellow web master Jerry Lester & myself were there checking out the place. They discussed techniques, knots, & boat position. If you attended the FFC meeting in Dec & Jan you could have gotten up close & personal with these pro’s…. 2 very likable individuals.
Don’t forget that recreation director John Rohan will be at the next FFC meeting on Tuesday March 13 at 7 P.M.
Also if you’re considering running for an office in the club, now is the time to get involved. Nominations are in April & elections will be held in May. Do your part….get involved.
Bassmaster Classic on Mar 16-18, 2018 will be held on Lake Hartwell at Greenville, SC….for those stuck at work, you can watch it on the web. Just go to Bassmaster.com.
