There’s a meeting being held today in Orlando regarding the possibility of registering non-motored water craft….canoes, kayaks, sailboats…. Stay tuned
After several attempts to “Hook Up” with old Ohio friend, Andy Bachert, we finally got together on Jan 30th, that had small craft advisory, colder than hell, for me anyway, & semi cooperative fish. We at least scraped up 9 on Griffin with Andy beating me out by 1 oz. Bassmaster Elite angler Mike Iaconelli used to holler “Never give up”. On the way back to the ramp I told Andy there’s a spot I want to hit that held 3 bass for me during a tournament. I idled into the cove & didn’t even put the trolling motor down as Andy made a cast from the bow along a dock. With a few more casts he felt a light tap as I watched his line move away & he set the hook. This nice 2.15 bass hit on a watermelon red fluke. Yep – Never give up! (Click on any pics to enlarge)
Here’s my neighbor Stan Lippian that’s nicknamed “Big Fish Stan” appropriately so. Check this Lake Kissimmee hog he caught during pre-fishing for a tournament. Stan said he’d caught 2 others that were 5 lbs but the one pictured was the largest only missing Trophy Catch qualification by .18 of a pound. Stan has had several already registered Trophy Catch fish that resulted in receiving gift cards, spiderwire line, & other prizes.
- TFOTM – The Fish Of The Month
You don’t need no stinkin boat to catch fish here in Florida. Now here’s an alleged Trophy Catch qualifier. Although no scales were shown weighing this fish, it still appears to fall into the Trophy Catch category. Angler & resident Villager Max Wolpert squeaked out by a day to be awarded the TFOTM. Max caught his bass on a green Senko….this is a bait that FFC President Randy Disanto used to swear by. Weigh scales or not, this is a trophy fish of a lifetime for many. WTG Max.
Don’t forget to sign up for the fish fry at our Feb 14 meeting. You must pay in advance for the fish fry that’s to be held on Feb 18. We’ll be drawing for the trip raffle to the Promise Ranch ….and you must be a member in good standing to participate. February FFC featured speaker is Terry Scroggins, Bassmaster Elite Professional. Learn the ins & outs of fishing in Florida.
They’ll be hugs for all the women that attend the next meeting….Valentines Day. Come on, where else can you go for a nice romantic evening? Easy now …. 🙂
