The old saying “The apple didn’t fall far from the tree” reflects about ones genes that are passed on through inheritance….referring to an off spring. Being somewhat skeptical that Citrus County Tournament Director Bill Genes has scales & gils, we’ll forget about the gene pool thingy. However, Bill Genes did catch some large bass today while fishing a tournament at the forever tough, Floral City. Bill coaxed his 2 fish to eat a chatterbait. Usually anywhere from 9 to 11 pounds will win a tournament at Floral City on the Tsala Apopka Chain. Bill had 2 fish that weighed 10.07 lbs that was good for 2nd place & Big Bass. Hey Bill, any one of those 3 that you failed to put in the boat cost you a win. Good job anyway…. First place went to camera shy Milt Shuffield that had 10.34 lbs for 2 fish. Shuffield’s fish were dandies though with his largest weighing 5.96 lbs. I’m betting trick worm enticed his fish. That’s his trademark bait.
Rodman Reservoir was very stingy on Saturday August 13 when Lake County Bass Trackers bass club held their tournament. Don’t know how many anglers fished it, sorry, there were only 19 bass total caught….1st place was 4 fish that weighed 9.93….Big Bass weighed 3.98.
Although the bite has slowed for the tilapia, President Elect Randy DiSanto says he’s still catching them on a fly rod. His tenacity has rewarded him many times with decent sized fish up to 2 lbs….brother in law Rob Husson holds the record so far of 2 lb 4 oz.
Also former president & current board member Jerry Echols has been catching some huge brim & bluegils. Check back soon for any updates. Jerry said he was going Wed Aug 17. Follow Up: Jerry said they’d caught 40 nice bluegils at Panasoffkee this morning.
