A Crappie Day? Depends On Your Definition

Captain John Peyton called today to inform me that the specks (crappie) are biting on the following lakes:  Woodruff, Lochloosa, Dexter, & Crescent…. and our club was very close to Lake Woodruff when they went to Astor to fish the St. Johns River.

Would you like to catch a limit of 25 crappies? Some up to 2 lbs….Here’s how it works. A half day is 5 1/2 hrs for $250 & full day is $350.

  • Contact Captain John Peyton 352-408-3048
  • You’ll be picked up behind Cracker Barrel on 27/441 in The Villages
  • All equipment & bait is furnished
  • Your catch will be cleaned & filleted
  • You’ll return to Cracker Barrel

Bass Fishing Report Harris Chain

On Sep 29th an angler I know fished the Harris Chain allegedly catching 20-25 bass stating that his best 5 may have gone 9.5 lbs. The very next day he only caught 2. Different results may have been due to the weather. On the 29th it was drizzly & breezy all day. On the 30th it was sunny & bright.

On Oct 1st I went to Little Lake Harris and had a plethera of rods on the deck in an attempt to conjure up a bite only to catch 3 that weren’t even worth an honorable mention. I did talk to a guy at the ramp upon leaving & we compared stories. His doubled mine but he said all were dinks.

Also heard that 2 months ago 3 manatees were seen in the Apopka Beauclair Canal. I videod 1 in Lake Griffin on Aug 31st. How many do we have ???? Who knows….but if you see any in the Harris Chain take a picture/video of it and let us know. If we have 3 I pray that they’re all the same sex.
