October 14, on Tsala Apopka Lake in Hernando, 16 anglers competed in a monthly bass tournament….mostly for bragging rights & a little bit of ca$h. The morning started out with flashes of lightning in the pre-dawn being seen out in the Gulf of Mexico….far enough away you couldn’t hear the thunder.
The water level in the Hernando Pool was 38.96’….only .04 from being at the high guide level of 39’….What a difference a couple years make…. Trails that were once traversed only by airboats can now be accessed by bass boats allowing anglers to fish a whole new area ….and with that SOME find the fish….Steve & Carol Naas did just that…. Steve came in with 5 bass for the winning weight of 10.1 lbs….Carol on the other hand came in 2nd place with 5 that weighed 9.7 lbs with 1 exception….Carol had Big Bass of the day. Steve mentioned that the 5 pounder was her 1st fish….great way to start the day…. WTG Carol.
The tournament results were as follows: 16 anglers….49 fish caught….3 Limits….1st Place 5 fish weighing 10.1, Big Bass 5.0….Not a record breaking catch by any standards but typical for this body of water. Carol Naas’ fish is a nice bass any time!
