Harris Chain Bassmasters 20th Annual Big Bass Tournament

The 20th Annual Big Bass Tournament, put on by Harris Chain Bassmasters, was another success. Anglers from around the state plied for a place at the top to weigh in the largest single bass for a pretty healthy chunk of change.

The event weigh in was held at Hickory Point where the crowd of anglers and well wishers were all anxious to see what it took this year to win.

Prior to the weigh in there were umteen door prizes given away-rods-reels-StaBil etc & 50/50 drawing.

Winners Skip Batton, holding fish, & Stacy Cook proudly display their 7.94 lb prize catch. Batton said he was in the back of the boat and caught it on a black worm. What’s ironic is that these guys are back to back winners and members of the Nature Coast Bassmasters. Club rivalry??? Maybe….Both anglers reside in Inverness. WTG guys. Batton mentioned if you’re interested in becoming a bass club member in his area contact him for more info @ 352-860-1199….they’re always open for new members.

(L) Jason Smith & Paul Potfora

(L) Kingsland, GA Jason Smith & Fruitland Park, FL Paul Potfora fished their 4th consecutive annual event. Although they’d caught fish, they just weren’t the size they needed. “We had fun anyway”, they said.

John Hendry "I needed 1 about like this....well almost!"

It was mentioned that some anglers locked thru to Griffin. Although the fish didn’t cooperate like they’d hoped, I guess the lockmaster doesn’t run on the atomic clock either. Several anglers were displeased with delays…and this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this and unfortunately all are at the mercy of the “lockmaster”…..
