Bassmaster Elite Series, having ended its 4 day cast for ca$h event on the Delaware River, originally started with 107 anglers that fished the first 2 days….then the top 50 fish day 3….finally it’s whittled down to the top 12 fishing day 4. Leading on day 3 was Michael Iconelli whose most commonly known by his fans as Ike. This was Ike’s tournament to lose. In short, at the end of day 4, Ike won easily over his closest competitor by 8 lbs. His win solidifies him a position in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic. He collects a cool 100k plus other prizes. Sure the win was great but that’s not the story. The fans of Philly, aka The City of Brotherly Love, showed Ike that they were behind him 100%. Bassmaster officials were beside themselves by the enthusiasm never before heard from crowds before at any tournament. Attendees were there to cheer on their hometown hero Ike. And Ike in his true championship fashion, made them proud. After receiving his trophy with his wife & family on stage, he walked among the fans embracing many & even allowing them to hold his trophy.B.A.S.S./Gary Tramontina

The night before, just after the day 3 weigh in, Ike stayed & signed autographs for 90 minutes knowing that he had to get ready for the following days event. Ikes connection with fans cannot be duplicated. His persona touches the masses & puts a smile on their face. One fan referred to Ike as being like Rocky….the peoples pro. Watch Bassmasters on ESPN2 Aug 24….you’ll see what I mean.
