Lake Rousseau Kicks MY Tail NOT Others

26 Anglers participated in Tri County Bass Clubs monthly tournament held Tue May 27 on Lake Rousseau out of Peaceful Acres. We started 30 minutes before a beautiful sunrise and quit at 1:00 pm.

Rousseau Sunrise

While some know this lake and can navigate with ease, yours truly is skeptical to run on plane at first light….Rousseau is a bass mecca but also loaded with stumps. I dropped the trolling motor not far from the ramp and started throwing topwater with hopes of seeing some schooling fish….nope….saw plenty of gar, turtles, & a mudfish that scared hell out of me.

100 yards away I observe a fellow competitor catch 3 small bass on a worm….that he tossed in his livewell. 14″ Keepers??? Waiver fish probably….not interested in waiver fish. I’ve seen this lake produce massive bags before and I wasn’t messing with 5 squeakers today. As it turned out, I didn’t get to mess with anything. By the end of the day 5 waiver fish were looking awful good just for pride. What about the 18 others that brought limits to the scales? They obviously knew what they were doing.

Here’s the results of the day.

  • 26 Anglers caught 107 fish
  • 1st place Denny Langlois 5/13.2 lbs
