Lake Griffin State Park

Date: 9:00 a.m.

This event will introduce children, ages 4 -14, to the world of freshwater angling through educational programming and hands-on experience.

All activities start at 9:00 a.m. and will take place at the park’s picnic area and boat dock. Participants must arrive before 9:30 a.m. The support of many sponsors has made it possible to supply each registered child with their own rod and reel combo to use at the event and take home, as well as a hot dog lunch in the park. For parents, guardians and other non-participants, lunches will be available for a donation. The clinic will teach basic fishing skills, knot tying, casting, safety and fishing ethics to the first pre-registered 60 children attending as well as their families.

The clinic is a great opportunity for families to enjoy the Real FloridaSM while learning about America’s top sport. There is only room for 60 children to participate. Pre-registration begins on April 7th. Park admission is $5 per car load up to 8 people and the event is free of charge. Parents or guardians who are interested in registering their children are asked to contact the park at 352-360-6760 or email daniel.osborn@dep.state.fl.us A parent or guardian must be present with the child during the clinic.
